954 policemen awarded Police Medal on the occasion of Independence Day
A total of 954 police personnel have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of Independence Day. The Union Home Minister said that the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to the Central Reserve Police Force and the Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to 229 personnel.
According to the ministry, the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service has been awarded to 82 personnel and the Police Medal for Meritorious Service to 642 personnel. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 125 personnel from Left Wing Extremism affected areas and 71 from Jammu and Kashmir region and 11 from North East region are being awarded for their gallantry.
India’s Chandrayaan-3 gets closer to the Moon after another successful orbit reduction
Chandrayaan-3 has now reached even closer to the moon. The Indian Space Research Organisation-ISRO today successfully completed the crucial third orbit reduction maneuver to bring the spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 closer to the Moon. With this, Chandrayaan-3 has entered the next orbit of the moon. ISRO has informed on social media the plan for the next maneuver on Wednesday, 16 August.
On the 9th of this month, ISRO successfully completed the second important maneuver to bring the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft closer to the lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14 of last month. Chandrayaan-3 entered the Moon’s orbit on August 5. Chandrayaan-3 is orbiting under a series of lunar orbits. On August 17, the propulsion module will separate from the lander and rover. ISRO plans to attempt a soft landing on the lunar surface on August 23.
India to provide financial assistance to Sri Lanka Unique Digital Identity Project (SL-UDI)

19 member committee constituted to revise NCERT textbooks
NCERT to revise textbooks for classes 3 to 12 NIEPA Chancellor M.C. A 19-member National Curriculum and Teaching Learning Material Committee (NSTC) has been set up under the chairmanship of Pant. These members include Sudha Murthy, Shankar Mahadevan, Sanjeev Sanyal and others.
The committee aims to align the curriculum with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Co-chaired by mathematician Manjul Bhargava, the committee will develop teaching materials and will be assisted by curriculum area groups.
